My favorite reading strategy is by far active reading — annotations to be really specific. Having a conversation with myself while reading really helps me to understand the concepts that authors are trying to convey. Active reading in academics is crucial to my understanding of topics. Learning how to do proper active reading has been immensely helpful and is a skill I will use throughout the rest of my academic career. Writing wise, I would say that free writing has been without a doubt the most useful skill I have learned out of all my classes this semester. It makes essay writing so much easier as I spill all of my ideas and concepts onto one document and then organize from there, rather than attempting to make every paragraph and point perfect on the first try. This is a skill I wish I learned earlier in life and is something I will apply to as many things as possible.
