Blog 5: A Working Introductory Paragraph

The difference between value and importance may seem slim but it is apparent. Value pertains to how useful a thing is, a house can become more or less valuable depending on how many bells and whistles are attached, how useful and convenient it can be to the buyer. Metaphors have value, of course. They are the key component to any company’s advertisement in this age where creativity and originality are essential to creating a lasting impact. Without them, companies would be faced with the challenge of promoting their product or concept in such a way that is clear, concise, and flowy, which would be a challenge indeed if not for use of easy comparisons. The question at hand is not about value, but of importance, and if metaphors fall into that spectrum. Importance is about significance, and depth, why certain things should be used and how they can be beneficial to the world. Education is important because it can be used to improve the world and its inhabitants. Physical and mental health are important as they lead to the well being of the human population; and, as I believe, metaphors are important because they play a large role in influencing and inspiring any situation they are placed in.
